Are house cleaners bonded and insured — and why it matters

When you hire a house cleaner, you’re not really buying a clean — you’re handing a stranger a key to the place you keep everything that matters. “Bonded and insured” is the phrase that’s supposed to make that safe, but it’s rarely explained. Here’s what it actually means.

Insured

Insurance covers accidents. If a cleaner breaks something, or someone is hurt while working in your home, liability insurance means the cost falls on the company’s policy, not on you. A cleaner without it is a cleaner whose mistakes can become your bill.

Bonded

A bond protects you against the rarer, more serious case — theft or dishonesty by someone working in your home. It’s a financial guarantee that there’s recourse if the worst happens. Together, bonded and insured mean both the honest accident and the dishonest act are covered.

The part nobody mentions: who’s actually in your home

Coverage matters, but so does the person. A background-checked team and the same consistent crew on every visit do as much for your peace of mind as any policy. A rotating cast of strangers — common with gig-app cleaning — means you never know who’s coming, and no one is accountable when something’s off.

  • Ask whether the company is bonded and insured — and whether they’ll say it plainly.
  • Ask whether cleaners are background-checked before their first visit.
  • Ask whether you get the same team each time, or whoever’s available.
The right question isn’t just “are you insured?” It’s “who, exactly, is coming into my home — and will it be the same people next time?”

Questions

Quick answers

Yes — bonded and insured, and our team is background-checked. We state it plainly because the whole business runs on trust, not because it’s a marketing line.

Yes. We assign a small, consistent team to your home so they learn it and you build a working relationship — not a different stranger every visit.

No. Most recurring clients give us a key or code so we clean while they’re out. The same vetted team handles your home each time.

A home that feels cared for.
