Post-construction cleaning: why renovation dust needs a specialist

A bright room mid-transition

When a remodel wraps, the space looks done, and it isn’t clean. Construction dust is fine, it travels, and it keeps settling for weeks onto ledges, vents, and inside cabinets you thought were sealed. A normal clean just moves it around. Here’s why post-construction work is its own job.

Why construction dust is different

Ordinary dust is heavy and stays put. Drywall and sanding dust is ultra-fine: it hangs in the air, drifts into every crevice, and resettles after you’ve wiped. Cleaning it properly means capturing it, not chasing it, and working in passes so newly-settled residue gets caught too.

What it involves

  • Fine-dust removal from every surface, top to bottom
  • Inside new cabinets, drawers, and closets
  • Sticker, adhesive, and label removal from glass and fixtures
  • Paint flecks and drywall residue spot-removed
  • Vents, registers, and reachable ductwork faces wiped
  • Multiple passes on floors: vacuum, then damp mop

When to schedule it

Usually in two passes: a first clean once the bulk dust settles, then a detailed final clean closer to move-in so the residue that settles afterward is caught. If you’re moving back in on a date, work backward from it and let the final clean land right before. We coordinate with your contractor’s timeline when there is one.

New-build move-ins need this too: factory film, stickers, and settling dust that a single quick clean will never fully resolve.

Questions

Quick answers

Construction residue is fine, pervasive, and clings to every surface and interior, so it takes more passes, more time, and dust-appropriate methods. It’s heavier than a deep clean of the same square footage.

Usually in passes: a first clean once the bulk dust settles, then a detailed final clean closer to move-in. We coordinate the final clean with your move date.

Yes. New builds carry factory film, stickers, and settling dust that one quick clean won’t resolve. We treat them like post-construction work and make them genuinely move-in ready.

A home that feels cared for.
