A common worry before the first visit: “do I need to clean before the cleaners come?” No — you don’t. But ten minutes of the right prep means your team spends their time cleaning instead of sorting, and you get more out of the same visit. Here’s what actually helps.
Do this (it helps)
- Clear countertops and floors of clutter and personal items
- Put away valuables and anything fragile you’d rather we not move
- Pick up toys, clothes, and dishes so surfaces are reachable
- Note anything specific — a stain, a delicate surface, a room to skip
- Secure or settle pets, and tell us where they’ll be
Don’t bother (we’ve got it)
- Don’t pre-clean — that’s literally what we’re here for
- Don’t scrub the bathroom or wipe counters first
- Don’t move heavy furniture; tell us and we’ll handle it
Access and pets
The two things that make a visit smooth are access and pets. Decide how we’ll get in — you’re home, a key, a code, or a lockbox — and let us know where pets will be and how they react to visitors. Most recurring clients give us a code so they never have to be home; the same vetted team handles everything.
The goal of prep isn’t to clean before we arrive — it’s to clear the way so every minute we’re there goes to cleaning, not tidying.
